4,2 % index increase to unemployment benefits from 1 January 2023
07.11.2022
An index raise of 4,2 percent to benefits tied to the national pensions index will come into effect on 1 January 2023. The index raise affects the basic daily allowance as well as its increased parts, including child increase. Usually, an index adjustment is done once per year but due to recent inflation there was an additional 3,5 percent index raise for the period between 1 August 2022 and 31 December 2022.
Earnings-related allowance consists of a basic daily allowance and an earnings-related component. The amounts for 2023 are listed below. The index raise does not require members to take any action. The Unemployment Fund takes the raise into account automatically when processing applications that deal with application periods beginning from 1 January 2023.
Allowance | Before 1 January 2023 | After 1 January 2023 |
Basic daily allowance | 35,72 € / day | 37,21 € / day |
Increment of the daily allowance | 5,08 € / day | 5,29 € / day |
Child increase / 1 child* | 5,61 € / day | 7,01 € / day* |
Child increase / 2 children* | 8,23 € / day | 10,29 € / day* |
Child increase / 3 children* | 10,25 € / day | 13,26 € / day* |
*The child increases take into account the Finnish Parliament's proposed temporary increase of 20 percent for 2023. In case the additional increment to child increases does not get implemented, the above-mentioned increases would be 5,84 € / 8,58 € / 10,68 €, depending on the number of children.
